An Experiment

So the gluten thing - I decided to let Stone have some bread at the birthday party last night. And not just any bread, but the evil, fat, white 99-cent-type grocery store paper-bag loaf type 'o bread... full of glutenous white flour, and from what I hear, leftover paper-pulp is used as filler... GROSS!

Stone was in a good, mellow, happy mood when we went to the party... he was chill and sweet, and then he ate the bread... and it all went DOWNHILL from there.

By the time we left, he was doom and gloom, his life sucked, he hated himself, and he was just all worked UP.

Hmmm... I'm not a doctor or scientist, but holy cow!! I think we might have something here. The month of December is going to be gluten-free in our house... I'll tell y'all how it goes. Stone is actually kinda stoked to go hit Trader Joe's and Whole Foods with me to get some gluten-free shizzle (namely, bread - I know that TJ's sells gluten-free bread, and hey, the kid loves bread.)

I am currently on page 3 of a 10+ page essay for Philosophy class - if I can rock this paper, I can skip the final!! I have 69 points in the class right now, and the essay is worth 25 points - thus I could have 94 points going into the final, and there are no A- or A+ at my school - just 90 to 100 equals A. Period. The final is 20 points, but I don't really need them if I get the 25...

So I'm blogging instead of writing my essay. Whatever. I needed a break.

Here is how my hair looks right now:

Gross, huh? MAJOR re-growth (ROOTS) and NO I haven't brushed it today - just straight up into the lovely Sumo-style ponytail... This definitavely proves my student status.

It will be remedied as soon as finals are over...

i've been thinking of a healthier, more natural diet for z for a couple months now...the cheapness and accessibility of snakcy foods is such a drawing tool.

i'll have to rethink it. if you can do it, so can i, right?

my hair looks exactly like that!! Not blonde, but definately sumo.

When I took Philosophy the first class irritated me so much I never went back, well, I followed the syllabus and read the book. I showed up for tests which were 90% of our grade. I turned in scheduled papers and left. i NEVER sat through a lecture. I pulled a B. Yep, I rule or Philosophy sucks, not sure which. You got that Ace in the hole....

Can that experiment be duplicated?

So, what’s with your hair and that topknot?

i'm so glad you tried the gluten free thing! it makes SUCH a difference. it's hard to find gluten free substitutes for bread and pasta (they just end up being weird and wrong) but this pasta is the absolute BEST and i've served it to people who coudln't tell the difference:

www.tinkyada.com

the website sucks but the product is the shit. you can buy it online or get it at whole foods, wild oats, etc.

Ri, it's a little spendy, but I'm baby-stepping into it... at least there are a lot of websites and resources out there...

Wendy, I got incredibly lucky and got an AMAZING Philosophy teacher - even HE admits that most Phil teachers SUCK!!

Nick, that is gross-study-girl hair. Unkept and outta the way...

Dee, you rock. Seriously.

Hi Valency,
If you go to www.traderjoes.com and then click on info bay, then click on reading room, you will get a printable PDF list of gluten free products that T.J's sells. They also have other product lists and samples available for downloading.
