I know I'm kinda SLOW on the new, hip shizzle... Well, I did hear about Tumblr a while ago, but I never messed around with it until now and OMFG it is what was missing from my cyberlife.
I have my Blog (right here where you're reading!) to make my statements about my life...
I have my Twitter to make 140 character quickie-statements about bits & bobs...
And NOW I have my Tumblr, Absolute Valency!!
It's kind of piddly right now, but it should get better. I am always surfing surfing surfing and reading reading reading on the interwebs, and I can slap all of the random stuff that I find interesting right onto my Tumblr!
Read it if you like...
I really love the fact I can condense all that inspires me into one happy webpage. Swoon.
Oh, and here is an anonymous picture of a Certain Anonymous Man and a stolen dog in MY BATHTUB:
And to make it slightly more reDONK, the Certain Anonymous Man was watching American Idol on my TV:
Gotta go shine a flashlight down Stone's throat now. He's complaining and saying he's sick, and I'm PRAYING it's not Strep. Argh.

After ALL of THAT BUILD-UP...

The installer never showed up on Monday but I think it was partially (mostly?) my fault because our landline phone is positively JACKED UP - we use Vonage and it hasn't worked worth shit for a while and Shane has spent HOURS on the phone with their nice customer service reps in the Philippines trying to figure out what in the F*CK was wrong with the damn phone line and after about 4 hours HOORAY the phone worked!
And 5 days later, the phone was f*cked up again. DAMMIT.
Anyway, I think the Direct TV dude tried to call and I wasn't able to get the call and so I WILL HAVE TO RESCHEDULE for god-knows-when.
I have been bugging Shane to just switch back to Qwest but I think he is digging in his heels because he'd rather pay $24.99 for a phone that DOESN'T WORK than pay $39.99 for the same bells & whistles with Qwest THAT ACTUALLY WORKS.
Makes sense, no?
Tallulah is so depressed, she won't come out from under the TV stand. She really wanted to watch Big Love.

CHANNELS GALORE!
We bought a fancy-pants TV for Christmas this year (well, it was the husband's choice, since he had to spend last Christmas in Iraq and I felt sorry for him).
Here is a Christmas morning overview picture in which I realized that I had let my hair roots grow out a little too much...
You don't even need to squint to see the wretched dark evil hair consuming the top of my head.
And yes, I'm wearing my sushi jammies that Shane purchase for me last Christmas via the interwebs...
(Remind me to wake up an hour before the fam on future Xmas mornings and PUT SOME MAKE-UP ON.)
Anyway, THE POINT IS that we bought the TV from Costco and if you buy a TV from them and then sign up for DirectTV, you get $250 in free Costco giftcards.
This is GREATGREATGREAT for me because right now we have suckass Cable One and we are still somewhat stuck with it because I have so many freaking TVs in our house.
(YES I have a TV in my bathroom and I LOVE IT and YES I watch it both when I'm bathing and when I'm using the toilet. Don't knock it til you try it.)
But I am signing up for ONE precious TV to have Direct TV and the reason this is SO GREAT is because Cable One is MISSING these channels:
1. BRAVO
2. E!
3. Oxygen
4. We
5. Did I mention BRAVO?
6. BBC America
7. FIT TV
8. Fine Living
9. MTV2
10. Ummm... BRAVO? Hello?
11. truTV
12. The Biography Channel
13. National Geographic Channel
14. Style
15. And many, many more... (BRAVO?!?)
YES unbelieveably I have lived without these channels since about 2000, when we moved from Florida to England. I had no complaints from 2000-2004, since we has Sky TV in England and dear GAWD I love British television. But since moving back to the States in 2004, I have had SUCKNESS and I miss watching crap TV like what's on E! and I want to watch BBC America SO SO MUCH!!
So supposedly the DirectTV dude will be arriving sometime tommorrow morning between 8 and 12 - it IS a holiday, but I booked it online and January 19th was a choice and so I PICKED IT and the installer's happy ass better show up or I will be so SO annoyed!
OH yes and I get 3 free months of the whole Showtime/HBO/Cinemax shizz and OMG the new seasons of great shows like 'Big Love' and 'Flight of the Concords' are just starting now - YESSSSsssssSSSS!
I am such a TV nerd. It is my 'thing.' Some people smoke or drink or read trashy romance novels, and that's FINE but I just want my comfort shows on my happy TV.
Bored yet?
Well, here is one of the giant bones the dogs got for Christmas...
Ibis has been destroying them.
Oh yeah, apparently, rawhide gives Ibis really bad gas.
If you could add sound to this next photo, it would be Ibis growling as he chews:
And Henry & Tallulah are all "Whaaaat?"
Tallulah is hella excited about DirectTV, too...
Can't you tell?

The Sole Surviving Dodo.
There are 2 more of these Dodos but this is the only one that I'm okay with right now...

Today is the first day in MONTHS that I have the whole house to myself; no kids, no husband, just ME... it feels great. I'm just the kind of girl who needs just one itty bitty weekday off from the world. The weekends don't count as days off since I have a demanding crop of boys that I live with and they are all up in my business 24-7 when they are home.
I'm just hanging out with my girl today...
I'll have to feed her steak and bonbons all day while the husband is gone so she will love ME once again.
Tallulah is such a snob.

Poms, Arts, and Memes.
So I got an A in my Photoshop course, but I really need to experiment more. I am INSECURE about The Evil Yet Wonderful Photoshopping...
Yeah, I'll keep workin' on it.
This is my little 1'x1' glazed painting... not perfect, but I think it's enjoyable...
I had my first round of classes today... they were all pretty meh. I am just not a big history buff if it's not Art History, and Astronomy so far doesn't float my boat at all... (or should I say it doesn't fly my spaceship at all?)
Yeah, I am currently LAME and utterly bored.

Hot Hottie Pink Portrait
This is how my self-portrait painting is looking:
The 3 months we're given for the semester is just NOT long enough to produce the kind of work that I want to produce. This painting still needs a couple of 'passes' to make it fully developed and fabulous.
Jim Henson still makes me swoon. I had to sneak him in there somewhere...
And those dodos keep popping up.
I'm not sure I like how its feathers are looking, but I love his face. The eyes and beak make me endlessly happy... I'm getting there. Baby steps. Bay-beeee steps, I tell ya.

Didja Get The Memo?
This is me:
I am SASSY. And observant.
Which is why this was so hilarious to me:
When the husband and I went to the party at his commander's house, the majority of the men at the party were rockin' these shirts.
And yeah, I was drinking the vino, and so it got more hilarious to me as the night went on.
But what just KILLED me and put me over-the-top was the next day, when the husband and I went to the mall and we walked into Macy's and saw this:
I made my coolawesome husband point it out for you... need a closer look?
I had the giggles for a good ten minutes after this...

Making Friends with Paint
I was challenged immensely by my Painting I class this semester; not only did I have my favorite extremely talented instructor who pushed me to work harder than ever, but I also found that oil paint is not the easiest medium to manipulate.
One of our final projects was to make a forgery of a master; I chose a work by Bronzino because I love Mannerist works for their odd kind of wonkiness (I can identify with it).
Here is a sampling of my SLOOOOOW progress re-creating "Andrea Doria as Neptune" from about 1550:
Here is the original, REAL one:
My version will DEFINATELY NOT get me arrested any time soon; Bronzino has nothing to worry about. But I'm pretty please with it, considering I've never painted with oil paint prior to August 2008:
(His shoulder is super-jacked-up because the paint was still tacky and semi-wierd-dry the night before final portfolios when I was trying to finish it - I'm going to touch it up soon).
