Figural Nooods...

The bread and butter of learning to properly draw is figural work... Nooods, to be exact. (I'm not spelling it properly because I don't want pervs who are looking for actual N U D E S to find their way here... I get a lot of random Google hits round here!)

We had an assignment in Drawing class this semester that involved researching styles and techniques of rendering the human form, and then creating a drawing based on something that inspired you... Here is my initial drawing:

It was based off of some works by Toulouse-Lautrec that I love -

Oy! He is a master!

These lovely ladies had their skirts hiked up in anticipation of a medical exam - Gotta make sure your bojango is clean if you are a working girl, you know...

I just didn't think my drawing measured up to his greatness, and I was not in the mood to start over completely - So I resorted to the old standby - DODOS!

It is a fast and dirty charcoal drawing, but it entertained me and I felt more comfortable turning both in for the assignment...

We also did a few in-class drawing sessions with a male N U D E model... DON'T GET ME STARTED. I've done many a drawing of both male and female live models, and this was the first time I have ever seen the dude get a boner while posing. TWICE. My teacher was able to quite classily ask the guy to go take a break... There were only four girls in the class, and we erupted in the most immature of laughter as soon as he left the room. Redonkulous. The guy was easily in his late 30s - you'd think it would be difficult for this to happen in the best of situations... Ahhhh, it was one for the memory books...
