Fast Photo Post and MY SISTER!!

So my best and favorite sister Kippy just surprised me with the news that SHE IS COMING TO ALBUQUERQUE FOR MY SHOW!! I am so excited - she finally gets to glimpse a little bit of my world, AND she gets to experience my crazy-ass debut art show insanity!! Hooray!

This is an extra big step for her, as she does NOT like to travel, and she has to leave the responsibility of her 4 kidlets in the hand of her husband - who is more than capable of dealing with the kids, but, you know, it's hard to relinquish the keys to the kingdom :) But it is a step in the right direction, because if all goes smoothly, my sisters next step will be TO VISIT ME IN ENGLAND!! Hooray! I'm hoping that my sister and my nephew will both come (my nephew just started his freshman year at University of Washington, and I think a trip to Europe is just what he needs...)

So here is a random iPhone dump for today...

Here is the only picture of Shane and I from the combat dining out a few weeks ago.

This was the MOST INSANE dining out I have ever been to - we ended up drenched and dirty and I had to rescue a group of wives, retreating to the squadron heritage room for the rest of the evening... It's kind of a blurry, awful picture, but this is how the night was.

Here is my September 11th photo:

I went and picked up breakfast burritos for Stone and I, and I ran across this near my house in Rio Rancho. It was really touching... We were living in England 10 years ago on September 11th, and it was absolutely surreal, experiencing what my country was going through while living in a foreign country with two young kids and a military husband. The base was completely shut down for 2 weeks, which meant I couldn't pick up any mail or go to the comissary, BX, or get gas (we have to buy our gas on base because we can get it for US prices there - off base, the gas in the UK is almost $10/gallon right now...)

The BBC didn't censor any of their news broadcasts like they did in the states - in the US, as soon as they saw people falling/jumping from the buildings, the cameras pulled away - not so in England. I was glued to the TV as I watched live footage of person after person falling from the World Trade Center.

Whenever I went out and about, as soon as someone heard my American accent, they wanted to talk to me about what was going on... and I really wasn't prepared to talk about it. My husband was deploying to Iraq, I was alone in Europe, and it was tough... But I'm a tough girl :)

On a lighter subject, this bug was hanging out in my front yard for a couple of days:

It was about 4 inches long - it was just HUGE! I haven't had time to ID what it is, but with those pinchers, I am just telling myself that it is the kind of bug that kills other bugs and is therefore a GOOD THING.

And I haven't had a gratuitous picture of Tallulah for a while, so here you go:

I took this to send to Shane, because he was stuck in Colorado with a broken Osprey for the past week... I didn't realize that Shane couldn't get pictures on his phone! Boo. Shane likes using his pay-as-you-go phone, because neither of us use our phones much, but he at least needs a phone that gets pictures!! He also needs a qwerty keypad - dear lord, that boy cannot text :)

He'll be getting a new phone in November when he gets to England, and I've instructed him on what to look for...
